Excel
provides predefined table styles that you can use to quickly format a table. If the predefined table styles don't meet your needs, you can create and apply a custom table style. Tables include tools to help you analyze your data. However, you can remove table functionality for any table formatting that you apply and keep only the formatting.
Do any of the following:

On the sheet, select the whole table that you want to apply a table style to.

On the Tables tab, under Table Styles, click the style that you want.

| Shade alternating rows without table functionality |
The easiest way to shade alternating rows is first to make them a table. Then you remove the additional table functionality and keep the formatting.

On the sheet, select the rows that you want to shade.
The cells can be empty or can contain data; if they contain data, the first row becomes the header row.

On the Tables tab, under Table Styles, click the style that you want.
To see more styles, point to a style, and then click .

To remove the sort and filter arrows, on the Tables tab, under Tools, click Convert to Range, and then click Yes.
