Add a vCard to your contacts

A vCardAbbreviation for Virtual Business Card (.vcf file), a standard for creating and sharing contact information over the Internet. You can send a contact to another person in vCard format. The recipient can then open the vCard in a personal information manager program that supports vCards, such as Outlook, and add the contact to an Address Book. is a virtual business card that you can share with other people as you would a paper business card. If you receive a vCard attached to an e-mail message, you can save the vCard as a contact.

  1. Open the message that contains the vCard attachment. vCards always have the .vcf file name extension.

  2. Double-click the attachment.

    The vCard opens in a contact window.

  3. On the Contact tab, click Save & Close.

Tip  If the vCard is saved on your computer (for example, on your Desktop) instead of attached to a message, you can also double-click it to open it. If the vCard does not open in Outlook, hold down CONTROL, click the file, point to Open With, and then click Microsoft Outlook.
