There is too much space between paragraphs in new documents

Cause: The default setting for space after paragraphs in Word 2011 differs from the default setting in other versions of Word.

Solution: Change the default setting for spacing after paragraphs in the Normal template.
  1. On the File menu, click Open, and then double-click /Users/username/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Office/User Templates/Normal.dotm.

Tip  If you are using Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion), the Library folder is hidden by default. To browse to the Library folder from the Open dialog box, press COMMAND+SHIFT+G, and in the Go to folder box, type ~/Library.
  2. On the Format menu, click Paragraph.

  3. On the Indents and Spacing tab, under Spacing, enter 0 in the After box.

  4. Click OK.

  5. Click Save.

  6. Close the template.

Note  The formatting used in new documents is based on settings that are defined in a template. Unless you specify a different template, the settings that are used for new documents are based on the Normal templateA template that you can use for any kind of document. When you start Word or click New Blank Document New Document button, Word creates a new document that is based on the Normal template. You can modify this template to change its formatting or content..
